haphazard musings

A list.

So, since I am uninspired to write about anything specific...I have tried 3 different topics...I am reverting to a list.

This list will consist of the usual randomness that often occurs during the course of my thought processes.

1.  It smells.  Like pigs.  As I sit here and type on my front porch, I am all the sudden getting a whiff of pig barn smell.

2.  I sat out here to enjoy the smell of the rain.  But it is no longer smellable...just pigs.

3.  I am now a little disgruntled.

4.  However, the sadness is quickly averted because I am thinking it will be a week (at least) before I have to water my lawn again.

5.  I am overjoyed at the thought of a lower water bill.

6.  Ryan just walked by with a bucket of water from our sump pump that is apparently not really pumping.  He informed me the reason behind the non-pumping pump could be the mouse he found belly up in the sump pump hole. 

7.  It is always good to have a reminder of one of the many perks of being married - I do not have to pull the floater up out of the sump pump. 

8.  People are die-hard about fireworks.  It is raining pretty good, not like a downpour, but you'll get wet. There are fireworks still going off throughout the neighborhood.  You gotta love the dedication.

9.  I love fireworks. 

10. LOVE fireworks.  It makes me feel like a kid again.  The show last night was pretty sweet.

11.  Speaking of being like a kid again, I love to be out in the rain.  Well, I should be more honest, I love to be out in the rain when I don't have to worry about my shoes being ruined.

12.  Today we splashed around in the puddles.

13.  Ryan just went by with another set of buckets.  Perhaps its is time to go see if I can assist with this little project. 

14.  Ahh....the joys of homeownership.

15.  Finally, I was thinking about naps.  I love a good nap.  I had one today and yesterday.

16. If you haven't taken one recently, I would recommend it.

17.  But as is often the case, I digress...sump pump...I am on my way.

Ryan's most favorite thing

to do at the ranch should not come as a surprise to anyone.

It involves mechanical stuff that goes fast.

Any guesses?

No?  Really, think about it.  You know.

You'll be like "duh" when I show you what it is.

  

Yep.

4-wheeling.

He fully supports the use of these little numbers as the secondary source of transportation around the country roads and grassy pastures.

Second only of course to a large Dodge diesel 4 wheel drive pick-up truck.

Which by they way is possibly his heart's greatest desire.  :)

So here he is doing what he does best. 

Corralling the cattle through the gate using the thing he loves most.

 

You'll notice we started off together.  And that is me my friends, clinging on for dear life, with my jeans tucked into my ever stylish black and white polka dot Wellies (aka rubber boots) from Target.

Why am I holding on so tightly you ask?

Well, partially because riding the 4-wheeler is a good excuse.

But mostly because he drives that thing like a banshee.

 

I don't know if you can tell in that picture...but I am not riding any more.

 

Yep, that's me walking back from the farthest reaches of the pasture.  I decided to bail before I got thrown off.  

He said, "Just do what I do, only you do it on foot."

I said, "Mmmm...kkkk....I'll try."

 

Most of the time he rides standing up.

 

 

Just don't get in the way of his work or you might end up walking from the back 40.

I don't mind though. 

I didn't break my ankle getting thrown off.

I did get some exercise chasing cattle towards the gate.

And I looked good doing it - thanks to my little polka dot wellies.
