ok...are you ready for thought number two?
Well, I have bad news. I shouldn't have waited so long to continue the train of thought, because I forgot. I thought I would remember, but perhaps the thought will reoccur once I get back in my car.
I do tend to have the most random thoughts while I am sitting in my car.
So in light of my forgetfulness and because I don't want to be a complete disappointment I am going to share some photos with you instead.
I did a "photo shoot" with some of my favorite people for some maternity photos. It was fun, but I was pretty nervous asking people to pose for me.
It did however turn up some good shots.
Ryan is obviously shocked by the news!
Well, now the little baby has joined us out here! We love him already!
Happy Friday, tomorrow!

...short (relatively speaking) car ride. Part 1.
but it is a car ride i will now begin making every Monday night until December 13 to wichita state university.
I am once again a student as I have been on and off for the last we'll say two years. I will say this, however, I like being a student. Learning is exciting to me. I even like being graded on it. Grades "force" me to do all that i can to learn all I can. So in that way they are good, even if sometimes a little stressful.
Anyway, thought one.
God has an interesting way of revealing to us His plan and its such a rush of feeling (i can't think of a better word) when you see the bigger picture.
Here is the story: Last semester, signed up for class, but no dice. It didn't work out. The class was going to be a TON of work. ie. a reflection paper every week, truck loads of reading, a presentation etc. I didn't know anyone and was freaking out a little bit lot, but I really needed the class to continue on with my plan. But then I found out, that I wasn't going to be able to enroll in the class because I was number 17 on the list that could only hold 16. I was pretty upset because my plan wasn't working out.
But now, new semester, same professor, same classroom even, I know a person in the class, I have a partner for the presentation, I have read a couple things on the list, and the work load is smaller because the professor admitted that she needed to simplify.
So new perspective. His plan, is good. I am relieved to be in the this class and not the other one. He knew I would be. I am relieved to have a buddy who has taken a graduate level literature course (the last lit class I took was as a senior in high school). He knew I would be. I am excited to be able to continue of all my regular commitments (youth group, small group, work etc). He knew I would be.
Its just so like Him, to take that thing that was causing me to wig out because it messed up my plan, and remind me that His plan is better (way, way better). Even if I couldn't see why last winter, I get it now.
"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." Pslam 18:32
So there's you lesson for today Lindsay, its straight from God. The message couldn't be clearer (in my words of course), "Trust me, Lindsay, because I will give you what you need and the road to follow. It won't always be lovely yellow brick and easy to follow, but it is perfect and laid out just for you."
Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow.

This photo (which I borrowed off www.thepioneerwoman.com) has had me coming back a couple times to check it out.
I love the way it looks like the young couple on the right is walking into the future and crosses the threshold and becomes the old couple on the left.
It just really makes me long for that in life, to be walking down the street arm in arm 50 years from now.
It seems so simple, so lovely, so perfect.
As close to perfect as we are able to attain here in this life.
It seems to be one of God's greatest blessings for us.
I could look at this photo all day, thinking and wondering.

9 days since my last post, I feel kind of out of the loop.
Its almost like I don't know what to say since I haven't posted. I think that's weird because, you would think I would have a ton of stuff saved up....
so in the last few weeks things have been pretty crazy. I didn't even realize it until I looked back at the calendar. Perhaps that can explain my lack of posts or lack of real motivation to do much of anything at all.
This week, I tried to channel my inner David Letterman (wouldn't that be a weird vibe for me to channel - it didn't really work) and presented a Top 10 list in front of 600 people in the high school auditorium. So I will try again. It will be a month in review, in the order of which I think of items, not necessarily in the order of greatest importance or fun-ness.
10. My mac is back! Good as new - and totally free - thank you apple care.
9. I lost my point and shoot camera. Any ideas where it could be? Pretty sure it has to be at the house, but if it is, I put it in a really good safe place.
8. I'm over being hot. Seriously, so ready for fall and the crispness it offers. These last few days have just been a tease.
7. I took a road trip to Dallas with my mama. we left on a friday morning at 8:30 am and were back in Wichita at 9:30 Saturday night. It was so, so fast and the traffic was terrible both ways, but we had a ton of time to chat and shop.
I love the contradictions in cities. The classic vs. modern architecture above and then just a ton of textures on a new building.
I think it was a successful trip. And we did some house hunting.
6. We went to IKEA!!! I bought a rug and a bookcase that we are re-purposing to be a buffet. I will post pictures soon, I am not in love with the way its decorated yet...but here's mom before her first time.
She didn't know what she was getting into. I told here it was pretty awesome and she should be more excited but she didn't believe me until she saw this.
5. I did my first "photo shoot". My friends Andy and Julie, let me take their family pictures. Well, their growing - literally - family.
One of my favorites...
Ryan came along as our chauffeur and carrier of stuff like camera bags and water bottles - it was already hot and muggy at 8:00!
4. We ate Yoda, stormtroopers and Darth Vader.
3. We did some paintball. I use the term "we" very loosely here.
Yep, that's me with my camera behind the net. I ain't dumb.
2. I went to the Women of Faith conference in Omaha with all the women on the "in-law" side of the fam. We had a great time. Lots of lessons learned. Hopefully, I will be inspired to share some of those as I have time to process them.
1. I was accepted to the English graduate program at Wichita State University. Yea! Higher tuition rates! Get excited.
Happy Thursday folks! Its almost the weekend!

full of grown-ups, I feel like this:
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five. (Groucho Marx)
Sometimes its a stinky feeling. But I get that deer in the headlights look or a blank stare more often than not in a room full of grown-ups.
Usually in a room full of kids, that laugh right along with me.
Maybe that's why I've had several kiddos come up to me at Youth Group and ask me if Ryan and I are married.
Seriously...its a relatively common question.
My answer is always "Well, duh. Of course. Why?"
I think every time the response has been.
"Oh, well, you two just don't seem serious enough to be married."
Or
"Oh, well, you two seem too fun to be married."
I don't know if that's a compliment or not, but I am going with yes.
I hope that kids are still saying that after 20 years.

There are several preset "categories" created by typepad that I am able to classify my posts under. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't classify them, but I am trying to be better about that.
Anyway, one is called "current affairs".
I love this one.
I think I tag almost all my posts under "current affairs."
I am pretty sure this tag is for when I write about things like the state of the oil spill (why do we call it a spill? nothing actually seems to have spilled, just more over-flowing...) in the gulf or the economic state of our country or the fate of the free-world hangs in the balance because of this "current affair".
But let's face it - it is very likely that I will never write about any of those events.
Its just not really in my repertoire.
Yesterday I posted about my poor, sick, little macbook...and I classified that as a current affair.
So sometime, if you are just clicking through and you choose to read posts under the label "current affairs" be aware you will not get my opinion on the economic situation and riots in Greece or the crazy job crisis going on in Spain (seriously, they have some problems).
I let smart people write about that stuff - you know people with doctorates in economics or political science (worst class i ever took by the way).
But you should check it out. You never know what you might find within the definition "current affairs" but I can guarantee it won't ever be about what you just thought of when you read that sentence. : )
Happy perusing.

my mac is sick.
I hate being sick, so I can only imagine that my little macbook feels the same way.
It is gone now to the macbook doctor who will hopefully be able to retrieve my mac's wireless capabilities.
Its been sad. And I have missed them.
A laptop seems a little pointless if its not wireless...
alas, I will be on limited picture use.
My pictures on on the external hard drive over at the Browns (ours is formated for PC)...so you shall have to make do with the endless ramblings of yours truly.
So please say a little prayer that my macbook can be fixed easily and swiftly - and that its free!
thanks for your continued concern.

is one of the best movies of all time.
I just needed to get that off my chest.
I watch the whole thing every time for that very last moment.
The moment in the elevator of the Empire State Building.
I wait with baited or bated...hmm...its bated...breath as I shoot mean and nasty comments at the New York traffic jam and then as she finally gets there and they miss by moments as the elevator doors open and close.
Then wait, what's this...Jonah has left his backapck.
They meet and then its the moment.
They take hands and go into the elevator and live happily ever after.
Its perfect.
And totally real. Stuff like that happens all the time.
Right?
Right.
I even remember the first time I saw it.
It was at Crowne Center Plaza in Kansas City on a lovely summer night.
I went with my friend Ashley, we were both living there for the summer slaving away at internships and needed a cheap source of weekend entertainment.
(We needed cheap because we both spent way more than we should have that summer on clothes. Its not good for two girls who grew up in towns without malls to all of the sudden be thrust into a world surrounded by fantastic shopping and who had no real obligations other than needing gas money to get to the shopping and food to sustain the shopping...but as often happens, I digress...)
The movies were played outside on a HUGE screen and it was totally free.
We took a blanket, popcorn mixed with m&ms and stopped at Quik Trip for cherry cokes, and we were ready to enjoy a nice movie in our t-shirts and jean shorts.
While all around us, couples were gathering with their wine and cheese and making a fancy, quaint date night out of it all.
Ahh...memories.
Somebody should do that here, in Newton - show movies on the side of a building I mean.
It would be great.
Insert Lindsay shrugging her shoulders and tipping her head to one side then saying, "Well, I would go."
And we (well at least I) fell in love with Sleepless in Seattle.
And it just so happens that the next week they played the film that is constantly talked about in Sleepless In Seattle - An Affair to Remember - talk about love.
Oh man, oh man, don't even get me started on old movies.
Let's just leave it at man, oh man.
Happy Monday.
